Occupations in Demand Stream

Read this guide carefully to find out how you can apply to the Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP) through the Occupations in Demand stream. If you are accepted through this stream, you, your spouse, and your dependents may apply to the Canadian government for permanent resident visas.

The Occupations in Demand stream is for workers whose skills match specific National Occupational Classification (NOC) job categories. The categories listed below reflect jobs that are currently in high demand in Nova Scotia. Jobs that are in high demand change from time to time. Therefore, the category of workers eligible to apply for this stream may change as well. We post updates for this stream, including changes to the list of job categories in demand, on the Nova Scotia Office of Immigration (NSOI) website. This stream is currently open to workers who meet the eligibility as follows:

ELIGIBILITY

To apply you must:

  1. have a full-time permanent job offer from a Nova Scotia employer in either of the above occupations listed below:
    • NOC 3413 (Nurse aides, orderlies and patient service associates)
    • NOC 6513 (Food and beverage servers)
    • NOC 6711 (Food counter attendants, kitchen helpers and related support occupations)
    • NOC 6731 (Light duty cleaners)
    • NOC 7511 (Transport truck drivers),
    • NOC 7521 (Heavy equipment operators (except crane)), or
    • NOC 7611 (Construction trades helpers and labourers)

2. have one year of work experience related to the job;

3. be 21 to 55 years old;
4. have a high school diploma;
5. have the appropriate training, skills and/or accreditation for the job;
6. prove language ability equal to Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) Level 4 (For example: if you take IELTS GENERAL, the requirement is  listening 4.5 /speaking 4/reading 3.5/4, which  can be English or French test) even if your first language is English or French;
7. show enough financial resources to successfully settle in Nova Scotia (if you have a job offer, this requirement doesn’t affect your application).

Are the Occupations in Demand stream right for you?

The Occupations in Demand stream is only for people who have a permanent, full-time job offer from a Nova Scotia employer(Canrely can refer your resume to the relevant employers. ) in one of the NOC job categories listed above. Read the following 2 columns carefully to see if the Occupations in Demand stream is right for you.

Provincial Nominee(applied through the province + Federal permanent residence: starting from $CAD7,000 (if you need LMIA supporting PR application or arranged employment, the professional service fees and the services are discussed from case to case.)

The professional fees are exempt from government fees,  third-party fees, administrative fees, and other disbursements.

Below is the list of government fees:

ECA fees(for the Educational Credential Assessment): $205(it’s not fixed, check the website for the fees, but in the Occupations in-Demand stream, the province doesn’t require it, but it might be required at the Federal level.

  1. What is the procedure to approach Canrely for this application? 
  • You need to prepare a resume based on the requirement and send it to info@canrelyus.com.
  • The employer will decide whether to offer you the job offer.
  • Once the employer selects you, Canrely will contact you for the initial professional consultation(paid services) and analyze all the options and probabilities. Note: We don’t provide any recruitment services at all.
  • Canrely will decide whether to sign the contract with the clients based on the information of the first consultation.
  • You are directed to take the language proficiency test.
  • If you pass your language proficiency test, then Canrely signs the Retainer Agreement with you(you will need to pay the required retainer)
  • You need to supply Canrely with all the authentic documents required by the government.

  • Apply to Nova Scotia. The processing time listed on the official document is around 3 to 6 months.
  • Apply to Federal government:  processing time is around 12- 18 months.

2. Can Canrely guarantee the success of the application?

3. If the application is rejected, can I be refunded or partly refunded?

No,  you can’t be refunded, which is against the law to sign a contract based on a contingency bill.  You pay the retainer in two milestones: the first installment is the Provincial application; the second is the Federal application. For example: if the provincial level rejects you, you do not need to pay the Federal application service fees.

4.  Must I take the language test?

Yes, you must. You can take either English or French.  

5. Can I work while studying?

Yeah, you can. It’s your constitutional right.

6. Can I work and travel around in Canada and abroad?

Yeah, you can. You’re a permanent residence in Canada; mobility is your constitutional right.
